Presentation Abstract
Speed to the Fleet: Accelerating Systems Delivery
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is finding ways to accelerate development and deployment of weapons systems to the warfighter using advanced digital modeling-centric practices and technology. NAVAIR's Systems Engineering Transformation (SET) Initiative aims to reduce development cycle-time by as much as 50%. The SET Initiative includes the deployment of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools, language, methodology, and related training to program and project across the Naval Aviation Enterprise. This transformation enables the Naval "speed to the fleet" strategy for the rapid deployment of highly capable weapons systems to the warfighter.
This session will provide an overview of the MBSE efforts at NAVAIR, including the framework used by SET to deploy MBSE across the command, details on the Naval Integrated Modeling Environment (IME), and brief insight into one of NAVAIR's MBSE development efforts for a next generation manned air vehicle. Additional information will be provided on collaboration between the Navy System Commands as well as other branches of the US armed services.
